As a multi-disciplinary principal and main contractor Excalon offer a full turnkey solution for power station development, from Flexible assets like Peaking Power Plants and Carbon Capture to Battery Storage.


We build embedded power plants, typically in the range of 1-200MW assets. Through working with established developers, we aim for high environmental standards, and maximising the use of our own fully skilled and experienced workforce, with a proven track record to deliver our plant builds on programme and budget.

Whatever your project technology, we can assist with the supply and installation of the electrical balance of plant, gensets and acoustic enclosures, including their install and commissioning for gas, BESS and CHP systems.

Our expertise in this sector allows us to minimise risks, whilst enhancing cost and programme surety. We add value through every step of the design, pre-construction and construction process through integrating our services into a total construction solution – meaning we consistently achieve ‘right first time’ project delivery.

Battery Storage

With the shift from conventional to Renewable energy generation and policy changes are the driving forces behind numerous technologies, one of these being battery energy storage. It has proven successful in being integrated ‘behind the meter’ especially in the solar and wind industry taking advantage of production fluctuations and grid constraint to maximise energy outputs. Other uses include smoothing the grid to match renewable electricity supply with area demand, time shifting energy delivery to the grid and Enhanced frequency response.

Flexible Generation

As we increase the number of renewables on the system, we will require other forms of generation to respond to market changes and ensure security of supply. When it comes to new developments, we believe low-carbon gas-fired generation is more cost-effective, more flexible, and quicker to deliver than the alternatives.
